Glover was chartered in 1783. The town is named after General John Glover who served under George Washington in the Revolutionary War. When the war first broke out, Glover, a merchant previous to the war, recruited an dthen led 1,000 men into battle against the British. He supervised the crossing of the Delaware River. He died in 1797 and it is unknown if he ever visited the town named after him. Long Pond once resided in the southeast corner of the town, until a channel was dug to power mills. During the digging of the channel, the pond rushed 27 miles
