The town of Lyndon consist of 3 villages; Lyndonville, Lyndon Center and Lyndon Corner. Northern Vermont University (formerly Lyndon State College), is a four year liberal arts school that was originally founded in 1911 to train teachers. They now offer more than 25 majors and minors. Lyndon Institute is also located in Lyndon Center, and offers a wide variety of programs in arts, sciences, technology and athletics. With a thriving dormitory program, LI has students from across the country, and the world. Lyndon is bordered by Burke, Danville, Kirby, St. Johnsbury, Sutton and Wheelock. Recreational facilities located in Lyndon include Lyndon Outing Club, Fenton Chester Ice Arena, Powers Park, Higher Ground Stables and Darling Crest Stables, who offer horseback trail riding. During the summer months, there is a weekly Band Concert in the park, as well as many festivals, Farmer’s Markets, Summer Craft Fair, and Stars and Stripes Festival and Parade in July.
